UVB Phototherapy for Psoriasis

Phototherapy is a minimally invasive procedure that is highly effective for treating many skin disorders, including psoriasis. During phototherapy, ultraviolet light wavelengths are carefully directed at the skin which when absorbed, reduces the overactive immune response that causes the skin damage associated with these condition.

Phototherapy has been found to be effective at clearing symptoms in the majority of cases. As well as clearing the skin, other benefits including reducing the reliance on steroid creams.

    We use MEDlight OCTaderm Units, which are designed for home-use and are MHRA compliant.

    Undergoing phototherapy at home means there's no need to visit the phototherapy centre, which would typically involve a trip there and back 3 times a week for 8 weeks. With both the cost of transport and your time factored in, home phototherapy could be a great alternative for you.

  • Delivery and collection is included in London.

    We offer delivery elsewhere at a small cost to cover transport - please enquire.

  • Typically we hire out the equipment for 8 weeks. If you needed to extend the hire to finish off any stubborn parts, you can extend for up to 4 weeks.

  • As with all treatments, there's a risk involved. Potential risks of exposure to UV light include sun burn, damage to the eyes, redness and in severe cases, skin cancer.

    There is a risk with all treatments, including steroid cream use. Phototherapy is generally regarded as safe providing that over-exposure is avoided and safety advice is adhered to. For more information on the effects of phototherapy, click here.
